Feast of Agia Theodoti in Ios is one of the most important and long-awaited religious and social events of the island. It is celebrated every year on September 7-8, in honor of the Virgin in Agia Theodoti.
Festival begins with the Divine Liturgy and the baking, in which many residents and visitors of the island participate. After the service, there is a traditional feast with live music, dancing, food and wine, which continues until late at night. The local musical traditions, with the violin and the lute, star in the festival, while the locals wear traditional costumes and participate in the dances.
